For this blog post I’m going be writing about what I think is to come with social media and how brands are to work with the ever changing landscape. I really believe with social media ever changing I think a huge factor is going to be for any company is adapting to it, finding the best way to use it and implement it. Finding ways to connect with the customer even more,
Technologoy will be what leads the way with the future of social media, I don’t think it will be human behavior. As a society now we’re attached to the hips to our social media accounts. For whatever reason we’re at the need to want to know whats going on all the time. One of my fellow classmates this past week in our discussions shared how much we are attached to the hip with our smartphones to check on Facebook, twitter, email, voicemail, etc. It equated on average of every 45-60 minuets that we’re checking our phones. So with it being so implemented in our heads, the next generation growing up will already be like this for better or for worse.
Wave of the future? Is this what family time will look like?
All in all it makes me believe that technology will be what makes things challenging and different for companies in the future. I’ve noticed in my 32 years of being on this planet I’ve seen people for the most part easily adapt with new technologies. However I feel like it took businesses and companies a bit longer to use these new technologies to their advantage. For example Starbucks has been using an app for what feels like years now to be able to pay and get perks, while Dunkin Donuts just released theirs this year. In order to remain competitive I feel one has to stay on top of the technological game to do so. I think if certain companies want to stay competitive in the social media atmosphere they’ll have to stay on top of technology.
Talking personalized ads from the film Minority Report. Not social media but will we get to this?
Technology will keep evolving and changing. and we’re seeing that with such things like google glass. Glasses that give us our smart phone apps and options. Who knows if something like this will become accessible to all. The other thing I’d want to point out is I’ve seen way too many times in pop culture be it movies or television where the tech has exceeded what we have in real life. For example we have aspects of our ads or phones talking to us, making suggestions and such. Minority Report had ads that scanned a person’s eye, knew who they were and would greet and talk to the person. In ABC’s Revenge, this past season one of the characters made an application that would make personal avatar that would know who you are, what you like to do, shop, eat, etc and make suggestions based on that. It was an more advanced Siri. Will technology get like this? Well there’s been plenty of times television and movies have predicted the future before, wouldn’t be any different it were to happen again! The Simpsons, Back to the Future, Star Trek have all predicted certain technologies and events that have occurred. I still got hope that by next year we’ll be in flying cars, have hover boards and that the Chicago Cubs will win the world series.
